Digital Night Vision Goggles (DNVG)
The revolution in night vision technology: most leading photo sensitive sensors in combination with high sophisticated SW algorithms and real time computing results in a light weight, low volume night vision device.
Its light sensing, adaptation technique is unique as it is fitted with the Charged Couple Device which is connected to the mini Computer which protect eyes from direct light facing.

It is without Image Intensifier tube (II Tube). The device displays Black and White instead of green color view, no pitched colored and light is produced (as traditional NVDs) inside the Goggle. The Instrument has a good calm view for the eyes therefore the stress on eyes is negligible.

It gives superior eye protection against Optical mechanical hazards in addition the light produced by the screen in front of both the eyes cannot be seen from outside, hence surprise is maintained.

It is a device with digital and analog interfaces for video recording/transmitting and text messaging. Interaction with others, external image sources is possible e.g. external cameras, aiming systems and thermal cameras.

its bigger battery may give a back up of up to 8 to 10 hours and It is water resistant and effective in rains also.

The visibility range is up to 25 Meters and recognition of objects is certain with this equipment, It is light weight equipment (Weighting approx 300 grams) and may be worn for longer periods without any weight related problems (in comparison the NVDs are heavier and bulky to use for long)

The basic Night vision requirement of the Night Ops i.e. in FIBUA, CQB can be very effectively met with this equipment. Any Combatant can operate and fire their weapon while wearing the NVG with minimum training.

why we can’t compare DNVG with Conventional night vision goggles

S. No DNVG Conventional NVDs
1. DNVG does not have II tube. NVDs works on II tubes
2. DNVG has feature to Unique System Concept: Night & Day Vision, Protection, Text Messaging, and Video Interfacing. The Conventional NVD has feature to "Look through tool" only.
3. DNVG has feature to Rapid head movements possible. The Conventional NVD has feature to running or rapid head movements impossible.
4. DNVG has feature to Designed for combat / forced entry operations. The Conventional NVD has feature to dangerous in combat situations, should be removed in dangerous situations.
5. DNVG has feature to Full protection for eyes + part of the face. The Conventional NVD has no feature for protection, bulky system may violate eyes and face.
6. DNVG has feature to Goggle fits under a combat helmet + visior (can operate through visor). The Conventional NVD has feature to Can’t be used with a visor, special helmet or face mounts necessary to wear the device.
7. DNVG has feature to No light emitted by the goggle, so the user remains in the dark at night. In Conventional NVD Eyes and surrounding areas are illuminated by the greenish light emitted by the ocular; user is visible in the dark.
8. DNVG has feature to High Tech Sensor Chip (CCD) allowing image enrichment and field weighting. The Conventional NVD has feature to Intensifier tube “stupidly” boost up everything – also scattered light (noise).
9. DNVG has feature to High resolution, 63 up to 70 lp/mm through high quality objective/sensor systems. The Conventional NVD has feature to Mostly resolutions up to 60 lp/mm.
10. DNVG has feature to CCD sensor can operate at night & day. The Conventional NVD has feature to Tube suffers under bright light conditions.
11. DNVG has feature to Automatic Gain Control to adapt the CCD sensor sensibility to the incoming light; field weighting & enhancement; Night & Day View. The Conventional NVD has feature to Only very expensive tube based Night Vision devices are equipped with AGC, however this type of AGC mostly pulses incoming light; no field weighting; early aging to be expected with some models.
12. DNVG has feature to High Contrast Black & White picture. The Conventional NVD has feature to (Partly blurred) Greenish image with “tunnel vision” according to tube shape.
13. DNVG has feature to Significantly reduced blooming and over-saturation effects. The Conventional NVD has feature to Afterglow / over-saturation effects with a lot of models due to phosphorescence.
14. DNVG has feature to Image capturing and image presentation separated, i.e. camera and video screen are separated components. The Conventional NVD has feature to The Tube in conventional devices is one monolith responsible for image capturing and presentation; no image diverting or enhancement possible.
15. DNVG has feature to Weight / size: the DNVG is about a 3rd of the weight of a conventional NVG. The Conventional NVD has feature to High weight + high volume = inconvenient to wear.
16. DNVG has feature to External Cams connected to the DNVG can reach nearly every distance range. No such devices can be attached to improve distance ranges.
17. The live Images can be exported to or imported from external sources to the DNVD in composite video format. And ability to connect transmitter for live streaming. the Conventional NVD has feature to Some models allow: q to attach a camera module capturing the image from the greenish tube screen – a second system with own power supply making the NVG even more heavy and bulky
18. Range of DNVG can be extended and it depends upon magnification of ext camera which can be attached directly to DNVG. Up to a certain limit range of NVDs can also be extended by attaching zoom lens further It makes NVD more bulky.
